The FDP32 was released quite some time ago and was
hailed as the ALPHA killer. It's performance is great (as you will
see) and the price is great too! The only problem is the absolutely
monstrous size of the heatsink. If you use a Slot-1 to Socket-370 converter
card like I do, you can forget about 2-3 DIMM slots on most
motherboards. Luckily I only have 1 128MB DIMM, so it fits fine.

This cooler was an absolute piece of garbage (you'll see
why in the temperature results). Why would a Peltier cooler
perform so badly? Well, as soon as I tried it I figured it out,
the heatsink is just too darned small. It cannot get rid of the heat
fast enough. This is obvious by how hot the heatsink is when you touch it
(believe me, if you have one of these, spare your skin and don't touch
it). The Peltier element itself works nicely, it
practically turns to ice when you plug it in and touch it with your
finger. But even with no CPU, the heatsink gets considerably hot and
I'm surprised Vantec released such a bad product. In any case, it's good
to know before buying one.

This is pretty much your basic cooler, or at least it
should be the minimum you use if you want to attempt any overclocking whatsoever.
I've seen smaller heatsinks with smaller fans, but you really shouldn't
be using anything smaller than this with a 300MHz+ Celeron, unless you
want a very hot processor and an unstable system.
